Can TTY bolts be reused?
Generally no. TTY bolts are designed to stretch near their yield point. Reusing them risks reduced clamping force or failure. Always use new TTY bolts.
Why use angle instead of just torque?
Angle tightening is more accurate because it directly controls bolt stretch. Torque readings vary with friction, lubrication, and surface finish.
What if I don't have an angle gauge?
Use a paint marker to mark the bolt and surface. Count the degrees as you turn. 90° = 1/4 turn, 180° = 1/2 turn. Angle gauges are inexpensive and worth owning.
How accurate is this calculator?
This provides estimates based on theoretical calculations. Actual values depend on bolt quality, lubrication, thread condition, and joint stiffness. Always follow OEM specs.
